Inspiration
I’m sure most of us have heard that to be inspired means “to be in spirit.” What does it mean to be in spirit? For me it means to be in a state of expanded awareness where the veil that separates us from the space where all knowledge, wisdom and truth exists, falls away. The spirit world is not necessarily a place but a level of consciousness that is made possible by the shedding of our physical body and stepping fully into the embodiment of our soul’s light. Without the thinking mind, with all its neuroses, expectations, and fears, we are free to manifest our truest, most authentic selves. Our incessant, random, and often nonsensical thoughts can block out or obscure our inspired ideas and our creative nature that is part of our heritage as a unique child of the Universe and God.
Yet, here on the earth plane, we are not free of the monkey mind, we call our ego, that mindlessly jumps from one thought to the next. That annoying, snarky, and controlling part of us almost never stops to pause, look around and notice what beautiful and existential truths might exist in the mind’s peripheral vision, just beyond the limitations of mortal thought. It’s too busy looking for the next tree branch or thought to grab onto in its quest to go absolutely nowhere. However, it is in that sacred space and expanded awareness where we can access the inspiration that will allow us to create the life we came here to manifest.
We are all artists in our own particular ways. We each have unique abilities that enable us to use our specific configuration of soul energy to shape the energy of the physical world into works of art. Those masterpieces expand our consciousness and help us all to remember why we came here and how to accomplish our life purpose. With our soulful intention to be of service to others, we open the door to spirit and step into the world of inspiration and miraculous truth.
The way I am able to enter that space is through writing. When I set out to write my weekly blog every Monday morning about 5:00 AM, or my “Daily dose of inspiration,” I have no idea what I will write about. I don’t think about it until the moment I settle into my meditation space. Once there, I do my best to still my thoughts and allow the ideas and information to move through me. They do not come from my mind, but are streamed through it from spirit, specifically, from my team of light. I am the vehicle through which my intention, unique talents and gifts can be utilized for the sole purpose of anchoring more love onto the earth plane.
How can we tell if we are “In Spirit?” For me, I know I am channeling ideas and inspired wisdom because I get a strange feeling in my solar plexus. The words flowing onto the screen of my computer bring with them a feeling of excitement and awe. I am not thinking about what to write, I am simply writing and observing what is coming through. Sometimes, an unfamiliar word emerges along with the fluttering sensation in my abdomen, and I don’t know its definition. So, I look it up in the dictionary and nearly every time it is a perfect choice. When I am finished writing I realize that what came through for all of my readers, came through just as much for me as well.
There are so many ways we can use our inspired moments to touch the hearts and minds of our fellow human souls. Our love of music may lull us beyond thought and into a natural primordial rhythm allowing us to put certain notes together and create a transcendent melody that make expanded consciousness possible for those who hear it. A songwriter or a poet uses their specific abilities to bring forth a combination of words, stanzas, and choruses that not only inspire those of us who are touched by them, but also to elevate the consciousness, and further promote the evolution of the artist’s soul that created them.
Painters, sculptors, architects, musicians, singers, motivational speakers, ministers, priests and rabbis etc. can all help us connect with our team of light who are always trying to inspire us. When we do, we can then join with the collective creative nature of all our essences and discover the personal unique ways we can use our time “In spirit” to facilitate the evolution of human consciousness and fill the world with more love.
One thing I think is important to remember is that the ego will always try to sabotage our efforts because it doesn’t like experiencing those present, inspired moments. Why? Because in those magical, mystical moments its voice is silenced, and our mind can no longer be hijacked. The more time we spend “In spirit,” the less influence our fearful ego has over us. So, the ego will try to make us doubt ourselves. “Who do you think you are?” it will demand. “No one wants to hear what you have to say. You’re always making mistakes and screwing up. When you figure out how to stop doing that, then maybe you can hold yourself up as some kind of inspirational artist.”
Let us not listen! We are human and will always make mistakes and “screw up” from time to time. Our creator and our team of light don’t say, “When you get everything together and figure it all out, then we can use your help.”
Instead, they offer, “You are perfect just the way you are. With all of your perceived faults and imperfections, you are exactly what the world needs. You can make a positive difference in the lives of others and the world just by being who you are. We need you now, and you need you now. So, let go of self-doubt, believe in yourself, and step into and own your soul’s power. Continue seeking to learn more of the one truth so that you may evolve. Then, with faith and confidence, teach and share your acquired wisdom and knowledge with others.”
So, let us embrace our passions. Vow not to put off our creative dreams until a tomorrow that may never come. Let us pick up our paintbrush, guitar, or computer. Allow the vibrant colors to bring our blank canvas to life. Let our fingers strum the taught strings of our instrument and bring forth brilliant, inspiring melodies the world has never heard before. Let the taps on our computer keys bring to fruition books, blogs, songs, and poems that will awaken those sleepy, unconscious souls who long to remember how they can make a difference as well. Inspiration is our birthright because we were born into spirit. It is our true home and a place and space that is familiar and accessible to all of us. We can go there any time and return to this world with gifts that can ultimately help bring God’s transcendent heaven to our beautiful Earth.
