Creating Balance Between our Human and Divine Natures

As most of us know, we are both human and divine. In the spirit world we do not have the challenge of obtaining and sustaining harmony and cooperation with a physical, and biological form, as we do here on the earth plane. Many of us sometimes live a sort of double life. We morph back and forth between the part of us that is intently focused on the material world, and the part that is immortal and focused on things of a more ethereal and spiritual nature.

When we are wearing our spiritual cap, we may denigrate ourselves for wanting and pursuing material possessions, money, or corporal pleasures. We may think we should shun that part of us that just wants to enjoy life here, with all of its material indulgences, and live a sparse and pious life. Then, a moment later, we may switch caps and begin to compare ourselves with others and judge ourselves according to man-made regulations and societal proprieties. We may put our soul to bed for a nap while we set about achieving enormous success as the physical world defines it.

Yet, is there a way for us to live in both the spirit world, where love is our only focus, and the physical world, where love sometimes takes a back seat as we jump into the human rat race? Is it ok to want all the wonderful things this world can offer us, and still live a spiritually directed life? I believe, it is!

There is nothing wrong with appreciating our humanness and wanting to live an abundant and prosperous life. The problem is when we become too attached to material things and spend every moment trying to acquire more stuff while, at the same time, trying to hold on desperately to what we have. Just keeping in mind that we come into this world with nothing but the love that we are, as well as our human counterpart, is a good foundation to build upon. Our human form that we have temporarily taken up residence in, affords us the opportunity to have this amazing human experience. Yet, when we depart this world, we journey to the other side with only the love we gave and the love we received, along with the level of conscious awareness we were able to attain. Our human body and our ego are laid aside as we reenter our true home.

So, what’s the magic elixir that will help us to regularly exist within and operate from both the world of spirit and the physical realm? Many years ago, I created a meditation that has been extremely helpful for me as I navigated this sometimes-difficult issue. I’d like to share it with you now.

Close your eyes now and be sure that your feet are flat on the floor. Begin by taking a long deep breath in through your nose very slowly….hold it…and release it slowly through your mouth. Take another deep breath…hold it and slowly release it. One more time, breathe in slowly and release it.

Now allow your breathing to become more natural as you focus on your third chakra, or energy center located on your forehead between your two physical eyes. This is your intuitive center or what is sometimes called your third eye. As you focus there, your inner vision intensifies. You can now see a path leading into a magnificent garden. The path is lined with beautiful flowers of every imaginable color and hew. There is soft light that seems to be coming from within these lovely floral beings. As you begin to walk on this path, you see in the distance what looks like a forest filled with tall, massive trees.

Upon entering the forest, two beings of light come into focus and move towards you. You recognize one of the light beings to be your spirit guide, and the other introduces himself as Archangel Michael. They explain that they are both with you to help you learn to balance your human and divine selves. They walk with you in silence until you come upon a gently, meandering river. There is a soft grassy spot by the water, and you are guided to sit there with these two beautiful beings. You rest your back against a sturdy oak tree as your guide begins to speak.

Your spirit guide explains that he has lived many earthly lifetimes as well and he understands the challenge of harmonizing one’s soul energy with that of one’s human brain chemistry and biology. He begins to guide you by asking you to imagine there are green, leafy vines made of energy and light extending from the bottoms of your feet and reaching down into the earth. As you envision those vines penetrating the surface of the earth and moving deeper and deeper, you can see thick, sturdy roots supporting and nourishing the many trees in the forest.

Your guide asks you to take your energetic vines and, like tentacles, wrap them around the roots of the trees. You can immediately sense their strength and feel a surge of healing power from Mother Earth’s wonderous and natural world. It makes you feel warm, comforted, and uplifted. Now your guide asks you to beseech the intelligence and wisdom of the of the physical earth for its assistance. You ask that you be allowed to draw its earth energy up and into your physical body. There is an acknowledgement that comes in the form of a soft drone and quiet vibration moving through the underworld of the earth. A moment later, the process begins, and you can feel your connection and oneness to the powerful earth energy. You have a sense of transcendence as it is pulled upward, filling your human body with physical strength and power. You share your gratitude with this living being, that we call planet Earth, as its physical energy, born of love, rests softly in your heart center or heart chakra.

As you are basking in that blissful energy and light, Archangel Michael steps forward and your spirit guide withdraws. Michael begins to speak to you telepathically.

“As the energy of the earth heals and strengthens you, use your inner eyes to see a golden orb of brilliant light above your head spreading out as far and as wide as you can possibly see.”

In an instant you can see it with your inner vision. It is brilliant, pulsing and alive with abundant love and melodic, harmonious music. The light then begins to send insights and wisdom through its music. You then understand that this golden sphere is your connection to the spirit world and to all of the knowledge and truth that exists there.

“Now notice how your crown chakra at the top of your head begins to open like the petals of a lotus flower,” your guide continues. “This energy center is your connection to all that is and intimately defines your relationship with your Creator.”

As it opens fully, you become aware that that golden orb is sending down rays of light and love from the heavenly realm through your crown chakra and into your physical body. Within those celestial beams of light are loving messages and memories from your spiritual team of light. You are uplifted and comforted by the presence of many angels and enlightened beings. You welcome this healing energy as it opens your awareness and raises your consciousness and vibration. You are now fully connected to the great oneness of all of life. This supernal energy fills your entire being and then comes to rest in your heart center, blending and merging with the earth energy already present there.

Now the energy of the physical world and the energy of the world of spirit fully unite together and offer you wisdom and an understanding of this perfect balance of humanity and divinity that is always available to you. You no longer feel as if there are two parts of who you are. There is only one combined energy from both worlds, and you now have an insight about how to live wholly in both worlds simultaneously, with great awareness and gratitude.

Archangel Michael explains that, should you ever feel disconnected from either your human nature or your divinity, you can embark on this meditative journey again. Through it, you can experience its healing power and again feel the miracle of truly living your life as an immortal, spiritual being having a wonderful, human experience.

As Archangel Michael and your spirit guide bid you goodbye, they tell you it is time to come back to the present moment. You can now slowly open your eyes and return to your present surroundings.

You might want to write down any thoughts, insights, information or any feelings you may have had while experiencing this journey. Journaling after meditation can often bring forth much wisdom and clarity.
