New Beginnings

The topic of my morning meditation was New Beginnings.  Therefore, I thought that would be a good idea for this week’s blog. In it I will share an example of how to set the tone for each day and hopefully awaken a new beginning. This is the way I begin my day but it’s not necessarily the right way for those of you reading this. It might, however, spark some creative ideas for how you might spend some time doing the same sort of thing, but differently.

I love the early morning hours when the gilded sun is still resting lazily beneath the horizon. It is dark in the living room where I’m sitting comfortably in my sacred space. It is here where I genuinely enjoy basking in the inky blackness that permeates my quiet, peaceful, introspective time.  It is my moment alone to connect with my inner world, pray, and commune with my guides, the angels, and God. My first prayer is always one of gratitude for all my blessings and for the miraculous gift of a new day that is about to unfold. I give thanks for the possibility of new beginnings that continuously emerge with every new performance of the drama- driven sun. I ask for guidance. “What is next for me on my spiritual path? How may I be of further service to others and to the world?” I ask for inspiration, courage, and strength to face a world of uncertainty, unpredictability, and constant change. I share with God my pain, my struggles, and my fears, then turn them over so that I may be freed from the anxiety and worry. It is in these shadowy, undefined moments that I allow God to help me surrender the remnants of what I no longer need or what is no longer working in my life. I ask for assistance in activating my soul’s inner light, that I may see, with clarity, the path and the new beginning He has set forth for me on each breathtakingly beautiful new dawn.

Once I have offered my thoughts, words, hopes, and dreams, I pause and begin to listen with my inner ears and see with my ethereal eyes. Some days a lively conversation unfolds between my spirit guides and me. I am given direction and support. Sometimes I see images and visions of what might happen next for me on my spiritual journey should I choose to follow the advice given to me. There are also days when I am asked to simply sit in silence and allow a sort of download of energy and information to occur. I am not privy, at that moment, to the details but I can feel the subtle shift as my energy reshapes itself to make room for the new level of awakening, that I am certain is on the horizon. At some point, I am made aware that it is time to return to the present moment and share my thoughts and impressions by writing in some way. It could be journaling, poetry, or blogging. Yet I know this time is not complete without the self-expression of my soul.

Awakening each day, or at least most days, in this way, allows me to avail myself of the precious gifts of stillness, silence, and electrifying anticipation. I feel eager and ready to experience the magic, miracles, and enlightened wisdom, that I know is just within my reach. I am not always successful as my pillow and the sound of my husband’s gentle breathing keep me nestled and serene beneath the warm blankets and soft comforter. Often, I notice that when this happens the moon’s light is penetrating the darkness creating a soothing radiance that streams in through my bedroom window. I feel its richness and powerful energy encouraging me to a space of openness. The moon is a symbol of feminine energy and receptivity. When the moon is full, it is a time to open to receive the gifts, the creator has in store for us. Sometimes, beginning my day by meditating on the moon’s energy and opening my heart, mind, and soul to receive, is the perfect way to usher in my new beginnings. Today, however, it is all about the colorful, majestic, and awe-inspiring sunrise.

I finished with my prayers and meditation just before dawn. This morning, I am writing my blog. I open my laptop. The only light I see is the soft glow from my computer screen and a faint whimsical light beginning to tease through the windowpane in the dining room, just a short distance away. I cannot see the sunrise from here because our property is filled with tall, towering trees. However, I have an abundance of memories of spectacular sunrises to assist me in channeling the power and transformative energy of God’s spectacular daily display of color and majestic beauty. The sun is a symbol of vitality and life. The ascending sun of each new day is an indication and promise of new beginnings. The rising sun is a sign of birth, rebirth, and profound spiritual awakenings. It symbolizes the end of darkness and the beginning of light, that may initiate a whole new cycle of life for us. When we are experiencing a dark night of the soul, we often cannot see two feet in front of us. We cannot see the forest from the trees, so to speak. We feel lost, alone, and afraid. There is no guarantee of the happy ending that we hope will be the answer to our prayers. Entering the healing and restoration that is offered to us every morning as the sun makes its dramatic entrance and pierces the darkness, helps us see the possible gifts within our pain, and the lessons held in their core. It may reveal that the apparent sad ending we might be experiencing is merely disguised as a wonderful new beginning. That potential new day is available to us if we shift our perception and have faith, that beyond every dark time is the light of a new dawn, new dreams, and unexpected treasures for our soul.

Did you ever notice that a sunrise, a rainbow, and the reflected light from a prism all have the same color sequence, which is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and white. In addition, God, in His incredible wisdom, gave us an energy system called the chakras and each of the seven major chakras or energy vortexes has an associated color, the first beginning with red and continuing in the same sequence. Since I am quite convinced that our Creator has a reason for everything, I am reasonably sure that His physical creations that mimic our energy system, were put in place to aid us in staying healthy, in healing from various sources of trauma or illness, and to assist us in awakening so that we will finally come home to our true self, our soul.

There is tremendous power offered to us by bathing in the rainbow colors of light and the healing energy of both the sunrises and sunsets as well. When the sun sets in the evening it displays the same sequence of colors only in reverse. Just as a sunrise helps awaken our energy system, a sunset helps us power down so we can let go of the days struggles, fall asleep easily, and recharge so that we are ready for the new beginning that the next day’s sunrise may bring with it.

The past does not equal the future. The labels we thought we needed that once defined us, or the seeming failures of the illusionary past that haunt us, do not have to carry forward in our lives if we choose to let them go and start anew. The point of power is always in the present moment, so, let us all choose to welcome and accept the gift of a new beginning. Let us ask for the signs that will lead us into the sacredness of our soul’s light that we may shed the heavy trappings of the physical world, embrace, and don our heavenly wings and finally fly free. Let us soar into our renewed purpose and awakened memories with joy and peace. If ever we feel a bit weary or off track, let us always remember the potential restoration and renewal that is available to us in the sleepy dawn of each brand-new day.
